As every 28th June, World Tree Day is commemorated and, this year, Molecor celebrates it with special emphasis after the recent planting of 600 trees in Madagascar, Tanzania and Thailand.

Let's reconnect with nature

This day is seen as an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance, the incalculable value and the vast impact that trees have on the environment and the planet, as well as to defend forests and invite people to reconnect with trees and nature.

What would the Earth be without trees? They are the lungs of our planet, they contribute to regulating the climate, they release oxygen and transform CO2, thus reducing the greenhouse effect. They regulate the hydrological cycle, protect soils and prevent erosion, provide habitats for numerous plant and animal species, and are a source of raw materials for food, medicines, fuel, fibers and other natural materials such as cork, resins and rubber.

Molecor Forest, bringing new trees to the planet

One of the main messages that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has always tried to promote is the need to protect and restore the world's forests and trees. Molecor has aligned itself with this ambition and has created Molecor Forest, a real forest made up of 600 trees distributed between Madagascar, Tanzania and Thailand, where you can find species that favor biodiversity such as mangroves, and vulnerable species at risk of extinction such as cedars and mahoganies. 600 trees that are added to the more than 3 trillion trees that exist on the planet and where more than 73,000 species of trees have been inventoried, of which 9,000 are still to be discovered.

These trees have been sponsored by each of the company's employees and form part of the integration of the corporate social responsibility culture within the organization. The creation of the Molecor Forest will not only contribute to the protection of biodiversity, but will also help to mitigate climate change, as all the trees planted will absorb 227 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere, thus helping to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint. In turn, it will generate enormous benefits for the people who live in it, as it works directly with NGOs and local communities to select the right trees and places for planting by local farmers who will care for them over time, all with the aim of promoting sustainable development, generating a positive impact both for the planet and for the people who live in it.
